Where has the year gone?
Where has the year gone?
I can’t believe that this is the last weekly update of the year. It feels like the children only walked through the door last month. The progress I have seen in them has been amazing. The writing, reading and maths has come on leaps and bounds.
Well its been a bumper busy week in year 1 fitting a trip to Pizza Express and MAPP day around our topics in the heatwave!
Just a reminder that we will be leaving at 9am. Please make sure that the children are in school before then.
Thank you for your support.
Good Afternoon,
Gosh! What another busy week in year 1.
In phonics the children have been learning about plurals and how they need to change the ending of words and sometimes the whole word all together! It’s not 2 mouses, its 2 mice!
The children have been experimenting lots this week in Maths with the different containers, looking at capacity and volume. Next week the children will be consolidating their previous maths knowledge and looking at addition and subtraction.
We have had some amazing newspaper reports written this week in English. Next week the children will be learning how to write a diary entry, with a focus on writing in the first person.
Just a quick reminder that the summer fair is this Saturday! We hope to see as many faces as possible.
Finally, could you please ensure all Pizza Express trip letters are returned by Monday. We will also be leaving at 9am prompt as the workshop starts at 9.30am and we have been advised not to be late.
I shall be registering the children at 8.55am!
Have a great weekend and enjoy the summer fair!
Call them crazy but starting at midnight on the 15th July, Miss Atkins, Mrs Boothroyd, Mr Criddle, Mrs Salmon and Mr Brokensha will be walking 40 miles along the South Downs Way to raise money for Action Medical Research. This is a charity that funds research into diseases that affect children. They will be ably supported in their endeavour by their driver, Dave – Rosendale’s premises officer – who will hopefully have them back in time for work on the Monday!
