Weekly roundup

Wow. This week we have produced our own videos in puppet pals retelling the story of the ‘GIANT JAM SANDWICH’. The children have really got to grips with the story and will be writing their own versions next week for the school magazine.

In maths we started to look at multiplication and dividing. The children have been learning to group and share pictures and objects. This will continue next week.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and rest up as we have lots to do next week.

What another great week of learning in year one!

The children have worked extremely hard in English. They have been working on their acrostic poems all week. Each day the children worked on a different letter in the word ‘Spring’ to help them collate their ideas for their final piece of writing today. Make sure you take a look on Monday!
In maths the children have been recognising mathematical symbols and learning the different mathematical names for them. For example the word ‘addition’ can be sometime written as; more than, altogether, add, in total and plus.
In phonics the children have been revisiting the sounds; air, ear , igh and ure. If you are unsure of any of these sounds, Mr Thorne on youtube is great at explaining how they should be pronounced. If you need any phonetical advice please don’t hesitate to ask. We are more than happy to guide and advice.

Just a quick reminder that it is the school trip on Wednesday. All permission slips are due back by Monday afternoon at the latest please.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
See you Monday

All money made from the sale will go towards much needed repairs to the Library Bus. Please leave cake donations at the school office. Thank you!
